Trojans and Mustangs Play a Wild One to a Draw

A day after defeating the #5 ranked Otero Junior College team Western Wyoming hosted Trinidad State Junior College.  TSJC was the Region IX 2014 Champions and placed 4th at the NJCAA 2014 tournament.

Western got off to a great start with goals in the 13th minute scored by Landon Jacobsen assisted by Jose Rincon.  Western added to their lead in the 17th minute when Jose Rincon scored off of a Taylor Flitton free kick and a Landon Jacobsen re-direction.  The score probably should have stayed 2 - 0 at halftime but an own goal by the Mustangs made the score 2 - 1.  The own goal also stopped the Western shutout streak at 2 matches and at 209 minutes.
With the wind at their back in the second half TSJC really applied a lot of pressure and scored first to tie the match at 2 - 2 in the 52nd minute.  In the 57th minute Jose Rincon secured his brace with an assist from Braden Smith.  TSJC tied the match again in the 72nd minute.  The score at the end of regulation was 3 - 3.  After two overtime periods of 10 minutes each the score was still tied and ended in a 3 to 3 draw for the two teams.  The draw brings Western's 2015 record to 5 - 2 - 3.

Mustang Man of the Match:  Jose Rincon for his brace on the day and an assist.  Jose helped account for all the Mustang goals for the weekend.
