Andrew Newbold Returns from Chile for Sophomore Season

Andrew Newbold has recently returned from his 2 year LDS mission to Chile.  Andrew has also recently signed his National Letter of Intent to play his sophomore season at Western Wyoming.  Andrew was previously a member of the 2011 WWCC Mustang soccer team.  The 2011 season, the Mustangs won 10 matches (record for regular season wins) including 6 straight matches (which is a WWCC record for wins in a row).  The 2011 team hosted the Region IX Tournament but sadly were upset in the first round of the tournament.
Andrew is a forward who uses his size, speed and shot to destroy defensive back lines.  As a freshman Andrew scored 9 goals and had 4 assists.  His 9 goals in a season have Andrew just outside of the top ten on the single season record for Western Wyoming.  It also places him just outside the top ten on the career record for goals at Western and the career offensive points.  We look forward to Andrew scoring goals and providing assists to make the top ten of those prestigious records.
Newbold also started 7 matches as a freshman and played in 44 halves.  A very useful and skillful young man who will only bolster the WWCC attack.
Newbold's prep soccer career was at Copper Hills High in West Jordan Utah.  He was a big part of the CHHS success both regular season and post season.  Andrew was names to all state teams from the Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News his senior year of high school.
We are happy to again have Andrew wear the white, red and black and again bring fear to the opposing keepers of the Mustangs.  Congrats and welcome back Andrew Newbold.
